WILMSLOW ALBION...0

PRESTWICH HEYS...1

THERE are occasions when the scoreline in a game doesn't tell the whole story.

This fixture was one such example as Heys completely outplayed a Wilmslow side that started third in the league and one point above Heys.

The first half was one of total domination but no reward as chances were created with every forward movement.

There is a worry that similar poor finishing in the future could undermine Heys' title credentials.

Defensively, Heys have conceded less goals than any other team in the league and with this strength at the back, the forwards should be putting more chances away.

Had Heys been five up at the break, the scoreline would be justified but patience did bring reward when the only goal of the game arrived midway through the second period.

Brandon Jolly tore apart the Wilmslow defence and laid on the chance for Phil Woodcock to continue his scoring run of four goals in his last four games.

Every one of the players involved played their part.

At the half-way point in the season, Heys lie second in the table, just three points behind Royton and the second part of the season could prove to be very interesting.

Tomorrow, Dukinfield Town are the visitors to Sandgate with a 2pm kick-off. Heys will hope to stretch their unbeaten run that dates back to August,

The team will be: Rooney, Cunningham, Walters, Stokes, Dydyna, Woodcock, Garrick, J Kavanagh, Leonard, Uddin, Watson. Subs: Jolly, Norton, Orrell.

Last Saturday, the reserves played host to league leaders Wythenshawe Amateurs and after a goalless first half, they won 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ricardo Reeves. They are without a game tomorrow.
