MEMORIES of loved ones who will be missed this Christmas shone through as a tree for the departed was lit at Bury Hospice.
Around 150 people attended a Light up a Life service organised by the hospice in remembrance of friends and relatives who had passed away. For a donation, names of loved one were entered into a "book of life".
Each donor received a copy of the page and memorial card, and was invited to the short remembrance service at the Dumers Lane hospice.
Candles were presented to those who attended and placed around the tree at the event or taken home to be lit on Christmas Day.
Fund-raising manager Mervyn Reeves: "We were overwhelmed with the number of people who turned up and it was a very successful evening that meant a lot to a lot of people."
Further donations can be made ahead of a short service of remembrance in Bury's Mill Gate centre on December 18 at 7pm.
Anyone wishing to donate should contact 797 1748.
