FOOTBALL fan Jack Eckersley scored a once in a lifetime win in a supporters' club lottery.

As a result, the 10-years-old Lowton St Luke's schoolboy ran out as the Manchester United mascot for their match against Blackburn after meeting his team heroes.

He was led by his favourite, captain Roy Keane, after completing a tour of the club and dressing rooms.

Jack, of Pennine Lane, Golborne, joined his father Barry, a lifelong fan, watching the Reds last season and signed up as a member of the supporters' club.

Winners

He was one of the first winners of a twice yearly draw to be mascot, previously an honour given to underprivileged children.

Jack, who plays centre-half for his school and left midfield for Golborne Sports, was joined by his dad and mum, Atherton businesswoman, Gina, at Old Trafford.

On arriving at the club they were given a tour and shown round the executive boxes and onto the pitch.

In the dressing rooms where Jack received playing kit, and collected autographs from his idols before they changed for the game.

Jack said: "Roy Keane led me out on to the pitch and we had a kick around on the pitch in front of a 67,000 plus crowd.

"It was brilliant. He told me I had a good touch and when the fans started cheering he told me to applaud them.

"I also saw Ruud Van Nistelrooy receive his Player of the Year award. It was a day I will never forget."
