A RADCLIFFE textiles company is celebrating a double achievement which strengthens its commitment and drive towards quality and environmental issues.

Unifi Dyed Yarns Ltd, located in York Street, has been awarded a top quality standard and a coveted registration issued by the Environment Agency.

The company has received BS EN ISO 9001:2000, the new British standard issued by BSI, which demonstrates that Unifi operates a quality management system.

On top of this, the business has also been awarded an IPPC (Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control) registration by the Environment Agency which underlines the firm's commitment towards all environmental issues.

Unifi Dyed Yarns' environmental and quality assurance manager Mr Chris Sheelan said: "We are committed to continually satisfying customer requirements. Our new quality management system provides the perfect opportunity for improving our market position by demonstrating to our customers that we are fully committed to both quality and service.

"All employees are involved in our quality management system and getting it right first time is a primary objective. This can only be achieved through teamwork and everybody working on the same aim."

On the IPPC environmental award, he continued: "Unifi has been extremely pro-active in the field concerning environmental issues.

"The permit issued ensures that all of our operations satisfy environmental regulations and that all process emissions are strictly controlled and monitored."

Unifi employs some 105 people and its primary business is in the dyeing and winding of synthetic yarns for the automotive, sports wear and apparel, hosiery and furnishing industries.
