LUKE Chadwick reckons Stan Ternent has pulled another rabbit out of the hat by landing Blackburn defender Jay McEveley.

On-loan Manchester Unted winger Chadwick has crossed paths with McEveley at England youth level.

And he backed the 18-year-old defender to add silk and steel to Burnley's brittle back line.

Chadwick insisted: "Jay will be a great signing. I've seen him play for the England youth set up and he looks a good, strong player that adds strength and depth at the back."

Chadwick himself is now close to full fitness again following the toe injury that has caused so much pain in recent weeks.

And he is hopeful the Clarets can continue their own recent recovery with victory over a decimated Coventry side at Turf Moor tomorrow.

He added: "We're training a lot harder now and I think that we've got to the root of the problems.

"We are playing better as a unit and I think we are now getting the kind of results that we deserve.

"Reading, Sunderland and Sheffield United are three of the better teams in the division and we've done well against them.

" When we play Coventry we can hopefully continue our form and get a result, but they are still a strong club in a very tight league where everyone can beat everyone.

"Anything can happen, like the other night when Stoke beat West Ham. You didn't think that was going to happen, but if you can just throw four wins together you can be right up there.

"We've still got a really small squad, but we've got some good players and hopefully come the end of the season we'll be somewhere near.

"I just take every game as it comes and just see what happens. I think we've got a good enough squad to be up their in the play-offs but we'll just have to see what happens."
