THIS time last year Ramsbottom Rascals faced a moment of truth when they needed to win to secure Premier League status in the North West Speedo League.

History shows they failed in their quest and the club were subsequently relegated to Division One but at the time head coach Rick Wesolowski vowed that they would bounce straight back.

Tomorrow's Division One Group One final, back at the Macclesfield Pool, gives the Rascals the chance to do just that.

After two good rests in the first two rounds the demanding coach is looking for one last big effort to end the most successful season ever which has seen the Rascals collect no fewer than three league championships and a host of age group team awards.

Wesolowski told the Bury Times last night: "We have had a fantastic season despite having no major pool to train in for over three months due to Ramsbottom being refurbished."

He went on to say that his squad have been together all week workong hard on starts, turns, takeovers and finishes, trying to find the extra edge.

They have been hit by illness and absenteeism but nevertheless, the coach was confident the Rascals would bounce back into the Premier Division.

The club will be facing Blackburn, Cymru Coast, City of Carlisle, Oldham, Wrexham and Gala favourites Stockport Metro.
