A BLACKPOOL woman who lost her legs in a tragic accident moments before she was due to be married has thanked those who helped her in the aftermath of an horrific trike accident.
Brave Dawn Auty is said to be recovering well at Blackpool Victoria Hospital after her accident, and she and her family say they have been 'overwhelmed' by the messages of support from the public.
A statement from Dawn, fiance Steven Flood, and their families, reads: "We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been involved in caring for Dawn at the time of her accident and for their continuing care and support.
"We want to say a big thank you to the emergency services, including the paramedics, fire service and medical team who attended to Dawn at the scene and to the nursing staff at Blackpool Victoria for their continuing care and support.
"We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of support and generosity we have had from our families, friends, neighbours and complete strangers in the form of cards, letters, donations and gifts. We really appreciate all of the help we have been given.
"Dawn is doing well and continues to make good progress and would like to thank everyone for their kindness during this difficult time."
