JUST LOOK at this Christmas cutey!

You would never guess that gorgeous kitten Lola almost didn't see this year's festivities.

In October, little Lola was found wandering the streets of Lytham with a broken leg, dislocated hip and skin and stomach problems.

No one knows what happened to her, but the lucky black kitten was rescued and has been nursed back to health by Cats Protection volunteers.

Now all she wants for Christmas is a loving new home.

"She was in a dreadful state and had appalling injuries. We don't think it was accidental," said Anthony Price, the branch's rehoming officer.

"She's one of the lucky ones. If we hadn't found her I don't know what would have happened.

"She's had X-rays, injections, antibiotics. But despite many visits to the vet she's been wonderful and never once complained!"

Lola -- named by her carers -- was just three and a half months old when she was found. A concerned member of the public had telephoned Cats Protection's Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre branch to alert them of Lola's plight.

Now, after weeks of intensive care costing hundreds of pounds, five month old Lola is almost back to full health and will be ready for a new home in the New Year.

The legacy of her injuries means she will suffer from arthritis, but the branch pledges to help Lola's new owner with any related veterinary costs.

Anthony added: "She's doing really well in a family environment. she's good with other cats, children, adults -- she's so loving. She's very clean, house-trained and dainty. She's a proper little lady.

"We're just hoping that someone will come forward to offer Lola a secure and loving home where she can rediscover her inner kitten," Anthony said.

And Lola is hoping she can find homes for some of her four-legged friends too.

The branch has many cats, aged from two months to ten years, who would love a fresh start in a new home for the New Year.

Anyone interested in rehoming Lola (or another cat), making a donation towards the cost of her treatment, or volunteering in other ways such as becoming a driver or desperately needed foster carer, should contact Anthony or James at the charity on 627427.
