Honour killings have no place in a civilised society.
However, I am aware that many people from minority communities are too afraid/embarrassed/ashamed to seek help from the host community.
I would urge them to come forward and ask for advice or assistance from such bodies as Citizens Advice, Social Services, Samaritans etc.
All these organisations promise total confidentiality (unless the person is a danger to the community) so nothing will get back to their own community if they are fearful.
I have myself worked for CAB and the Careers Service and had cases where I have referred clients on, for instance to Social services or a women's refuge.
Let me assure people in difficulty, whatever their background, there are people who can and will help.
