I HAVE just received a copy of the Bury Times dated November 7 and, as a former resident of Hawkshaw, I was very interested in the article on the village's First World War soldiers.
I tried to establish what had happened to a friend's uncle who was killed in 1918 and found it extremely difficult. I did not completely succeed so I can appreciate the painstaking work that Jonathan Ali must have put in. I would compliment him and the Bury Times for publishing them.
