I HAVE been asked to express the thanks of Thornton Action Group for the public's generous support for the campaign to oppose the Wyre estuary gas storage scheme.
At our meeting in the Little Theatre, they donated £478.76p in the collection for the Protect Wyre Group, which is co-ordinating opposition to the plan.
It means that, after the hiring the Little Theatre and other expenses, PWG will receive £386.76p towards the cost of printing 33,000 leaflets originally meant for circulation Over Wyre, in Thornton,. Fleetwood and Poulton.
Thornton Action Group members are now distributing 6,000 leaflets in Cleveleys, following requests from residents there.
PWG have also received a donation of £600 from a local company, who wish to remain anonymous, but whose director said the gas storage scheme was of great concern to their customers. Other donations from £80 to £10 have been received.
James Stansfield, Vice-chairman, TAG, Raikes Road, Little Thornton
