AN extra meeting of Hapton Parish Council was held this week to discuss the future of recreational facilities. It was attended by parks development manager, Adam Callaghan, Cherry Trotter, Gillian Smith and PC Tony Himycz.

Many of the young people attended were anxious to have an input into the facilities which may be available.

The provision of a youth shelter was discussed and the officers of Burnley Council pointed out that it needed to be visible. PC Himycz said that it needed to take the young people away from Carter Avenue where residents are complaining about the disturbances caused by them. Aaron Callaghan will cost the proposals and bring the results to the next meeting of the group.

Plans for the refurbishment of the Pavilion have been approved and passed.

Parish councillor Pat Jones praised the youngsters for their involvement and interest in the village. Aaron Callaghan suggested they draw up their own 'Code of Conduct' to encourage their responsibility. It was felt that the meeting was constructive and further meetings are planned.
