INJURY ravaged Blackpool host Steve McMahon's former club, Swindon, hoping that some of their walking wounded will be back in action shortly.

Nine first team squad members missed Tuesday's defeat at Barnsley, an advance on the eight who were missing for the home draw with Oldham on Saturday, as physio Phil Horner again becomes Bloomfield Road's busiest man.

To make matters worse, a booking for loan man, Tony Dinning, means the Wigan midfielder will miss the trip to Tranmere a week on Saturday.

The injury list includes some of Blackpool's most influential players. Richie Wellens, John Murphy, Keith Southern, Lee Jones and Steve Davis were joined by Simon Grayson for Tuesday night. Tommy Jaszczun is still a long-term absentee.

The bench for both games included Simon Wiles and goalkeeper, Lewis Edge, both still regulars in the youth team.

Blackpool started brightly in the Saturday game against Oldham. Scott Taylor carved out the first goal, chasing a ball down the right hand channel, cutting past Gareth Owen before dragging the ball back for Danny Coid to force the ball home.

Blackpool had plenty of posession and Oldham rarely threatened at the other end, though Phil Barnes had to be alert to tip a long-range effort from Danny Boshell over the bar.

Dinning patrolled the midfield well, alongside young Stephen McMahon, who again shut his dwindling band of detractors up with a useful midfield performance. The manager's son could be forgiven for letting recent events get to him but, although the occasional misplaced pass still creeps in to his game, he is improving with every match.
