BLACKPOOL Tower is to be rebuilt across the Atlantic -- because it works out cheaper than bringing one of Hollywood's hottest stars to the resort.

Hollywood queen, Jennifer 'J-Lo' Lopez, is to star as a ballroom dancer competing in Blackpool's annual world ballroom dancing competition.

And studio chiefs would rather splash out to recreate the world-famous tower and its intricately designed ballroom than bring J-Lo and her entourage, as well as co-star, Richard Gere, to the town.

Director, Peter Chelsom, is filming 'Shall We Dance" a romantic comedy based around the annual ballroom dancing championship.

But a set of demands from J-Lo involved in travelling to Britauiin means that Chelsom is recreating his own Golden Mile on a Canadian set.

He is also recreating the inside of the Tower's famous ballroom, complete with ornate gold leaf ceiling and balconies.

A Blackpool Council spokesman said: "We have been sending pictures and all the details of the ballroom to Peter for the set he is building for the film, which he is making in Canada.

"Peter says that building his own tower and cutting to backdrop scenes actually shot in Blackpool is easer than getting J-Lo to Britain."
