LEIGH RU first XV's match at Old Anselmians was dramatically abandoned when the referee suffered a calf muscle injury and was unable to continue.

Leigh were leading 15-14 at the time.

Anselmians had taken an early lead from a penalty but Leigh replied immediately with a good line-out take and midfield drive from prop forward Losty, which saw the ball then moved quickly wide for Wilcock to score in the corner.

Anselmians regained the lead 6-5 with a second penalty but from a midfield scrummage, centre Lee punched through a gap and Wilcock and Bridge were on hand for the winger to cross.

From the re-start, a fumble behind the Anselmians scrum saw scrum-half Peacock steal the ball to put Bate in for another try, again unconverted.

Leigh's play became scrappy at this point, allowing Anselmians to land another penalty. A poor re-start kick and offside offence saw the hosts capitalise with a quickly taken penalty to sweep downfield for a try in the corner.

Leigh 3rd 33 Vale of Lune 14

Leigh completed the double over second placed Vale of Lune.

The visitors proved difficult to break down initially with strong tackling and dogged defence, however the deadlock was broken when the Vale fullback failed to secure a kicked ball into his own try-zone allowing Krause to touchdown unopposed. Greenwood dispatched the conversion reaching a personal milestone of 100 points so far this season from the boot.

Leigh came close to scoring again before a break on the left by Peters and Carson resulted in Krause to scoring easily under the sticks. Greenwood again converted.

Leigh made better use of the wind in the second half and Carson eventually powered over from close range for an unconverted try. Carson grabbed his second try soon after which was again converted by Greenwood from the touchline.

Man of the Match Culshaw provided the pass for substitute M. Sale to score in the corner. Again Greenwood converted.

Leigh Tofts had two games cancelled on them within the space of 24 hours as first Ashton conceded the league points and then Broughton Park cried off.
