A PENDLE-BASED florist will be going back to her roots after winning a trip to Amsterdam.

Janet Boast, 43, of Albert Road, Colne, won a trip to Amsterdam in a flower-arranging contest at the Spring Florist Event in Birmingham.

Janet and her husband and business partner Peter, who run Going Dutch in Nelson and Burnley, used to live in the city before moving to the UK to set up shop 15 years ago.

She won the prize for an arrangement on the theme of Life called New Beginnings, which stood over 7ft tall and included white Arum Lilies, Ranunculus and Tulips in a framework of Pussy Willow and Cornus.

She will also get to take part in a three-day course with top designers in London.

She said: "I was secretly hoping to do well and the prize was a real incentive.

"I love visiting London for ideas and inspiration and Amsterdam is our second home and where my floristry career started out."

Going Dutch will also be competing at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show in May.
