Aldershot 2 Leigh RMI 0 by Martyn Hindley: IT'S ironic that on a day when Leigh RMI found themselves ravaged by suspensions, another red card marred a workmanlike performance that ultimately counts for nothing.

The spine of the RMI side was shattered by the tilted discipline of the Tamworth defeat two weeks before. Carl Rezai and Wayne Maden paid for their indiscretions at the Lamb with a spell on the sidelines, while predatory marksman Dave McNiven and centre-half Martyn Lancaster collected enough yellow cards to warm the stands as well.

Steve Redmond will be the next to acquire a one-game absence after his foul on Adam Miller in first half stoppage time was deemed a second bookable offence and the visitors had to fight a one-goal deficit one man light.

The Shots had taken little over a minute to go in front. Only 62 seconds were on the watch when Miller's corner was driven home by Roscoe D'Sane via a handy flick-on from Dominic Sterling.

It's indicative of Leigh's determined mentality though that they didn't buckle after such an early setback.

By the third minute, Mario Daniel had forced a chance down the right hand side of the penalty box only to see his effort turned around the post by the athleticism of Richard Barnard between the sticks and Warren Peyton's speculative 30-yarder drifted well wide of the left hand post.

But Aldershot were transformed by the early introduction of Brett Johson for the mis-firing striker Aaron McLean.

Within two minutes of the substitution, half chances fell to D'Sane and John Challinor, although neither tested Ian Martin.

Martin was employed much more frequently after Redmond's dismissal and did well enough to prevent the margin being double. But with six minutes to go Tyrone Smith's goalbound stab was parried by Martin but D'Sane didn't need a second invitation to make it 2-0.
