A CONFERENCE will be held in Pendle on Monday to celebrate the success of a funding initiative which has boosted small community groups.

Presentations will be made by groups who have benefited from European funding through the borough's Community Chest and Community Learning Chest funds.

The two programmes provide small amounts of funding to community and voluntary groups and have given out £60,000 to 33 groups since they were set up in 2001.

Groups which have benefited include the Cloverhill Residents' Action Group, the Waterbridge Food Co-operative, Wheels Within Wheels and the Whitefield Community Sports Association.

The conference will mark the formal handing over of the scheme from Pendle Partnership to Pendle Community Network, due to take place at the end of March.

The conference will run from 10am to 3pm at Northern Technologies in Nelson.
