LITTER, dog fouling, and noisy neighbours are some of the examples of anti-social behaviour being highlighted by Hyndburn Community Safety Partnership in a new publicity leaflet.

The group defines anti-social behaviour as any persistent behaviour that, although not necessarily criminal, has a detrimental effect on people's quality of life.

To tackle these issues by raising awareness, the partnership has produced a full colour leaflet and bookmark, with a numerous facts about anti-social behaviour, plus vital guidance on how to report incidents.

Coun Janet Storey, who has community safety responsibilities at Hyndburn Council, said: "Some forms of anti-social behaviour are rarely reported. This could be either because people do not realise what actually constitutes anti=social behaviour, or that they don't know how to report it.

"The leaflets and bookmarks are designed to tackle this by making clear what anti-social behavior is, and by highlighting which agency should be contacted to report incidents.

"The leaflet really is packed with information about these issues and it includes details on anti-social behaviour orders and acceptable behaviour contracts.

"If more people report anti-social behaviour, we can work with partner organisations better to target the problem areas.

"Our aim is to improve the quality of life in our communities.

"We want to make Hyndburn a safer place to live, work, and visit."

Booklets are available in public buildings and all households will get a bookmark with council tax bills.
