COUNCILLORS in Ramsbottom are being invited to sign up to the national Organ Donation Register, as part of Bury Council's 'gift of life' campaign.
There are 48 members of the council and any who have not yet joined UK Transplant's NHS register and agreed to become an organ donor are being urged to fill in a form.
The council is bidding to help UK Transplant sign up as many local people as possible to the NHS Organ Donor Register and has sent out a registration form, complete with a unique Bury reference number, to homes across the borough with the council's free newsheet
Every edition of the council newsheet is also carrying a freepost registration form.
Council leader Coun John Byrne said: "We are hoping that commitment from councillors will serve as a reminder to anyone else in the borough who has received a form to fill it in and send it off as soon as possible."
