RADCLIFFE Boro have been successful in two applications to the Football Foundation for funds.

A grant of £27.000, together with the £15.000 already pledged by the club's directors, will provide the £42.000 needed to install six brand new floodlights at Stainton Park.

The improved lighting will bring the club up to Nationwide Conference standard, and the work will begin immediately.

Club chairman Bernard Manning said: 'It's another major project we have tackled.

"I would like to thank the Football Foundation for their continued support for what I believe they feel is a progressive, community related football club."

In a separate bid, new sponsors Sensport and Bridgewater Flooring, along with Bury Council and the 'Sports Match' arm of the the Football Foundation, have raised £22,555, which will be used to keep Boro's Community development Officer, Pete Lofthouse, in place for the next three years.

"We want to continue to build upon our relationship with the local community and to develop local footballing talent," said manager Kevin Glendon.

"Knowing we have Pete for another three years means we can continue our work and hopefully unearth one or two players along the way."
