A BOMB scare resulted in Accrington shopping centre being closed for three hours.
The centre was evacuated for three hours while a package was investigated by the bomb squad.
It turned out to be a velvet box containing a pair of brass weighing scales.
Muslim council house tenants were up in arms after discovering that the toilets in their homes faced east - towards the holy city of Mecca.
They were told by Blackburn council that if they wanted the toilets replaced, they would have to pay £400 each to meet the costs.
Tenants on the Heath Close and Tenby Close estates petitioned the council.
