WHILE we could have done with three points on Saturday, I think the Wimbledon game being called off could work in Burnley's favour.

It has been rearranged for April 20, and it's more likely to be an absolutely critical game, which I hope draws a bigger crowd than we would have had at the weekend.

I've played in a game where we needed to win to stay up, against Plymouth six years ago, and we had a full house that day which really helped the players get the result.

And by the time we play them, Wimbledon could be down already and will be building for next year.

This might mean them blooding lots of youngsters, but then again no result is ever certain in football.

Of course, I'm hoping we're out of it by then but I am nervous because it's unbelievable the way it's panning out.

The teams around us got results on Saturday and we're now so close to the bottom three that the Bradford game this Saturday is even more important.

That's why it might have been better to have the points in the bag on Saturday, although the postponement obviously couldn't be helped.

What we have to do now is make sure we don't get dragged into the bottom three in March because I think when that happens to clubs, they often end up going down.

It's a psychological thing. When a team that's been down there all year suddenly climbs out of the bottom three in March, like Derby are threatening to do, it gives them such a big boost for the rest of the season.

But if we did drop into that relegation zone, having been down there as a player, I know that they will just have to cope with it.

When I think of that Plymouth game, I remember walking out in front of a full house and thinking, 'hell, we can't mess this up, we've just got to get on with it'.

I know we've had a lot of problems but we've still got two £1 million strikers out there and Glen Little, who a couple of years ago was considered one of the best players outside the Premiership.

So there are some good players in the team and it's up to them to come out and do their best for us. I'm looking at those three to get us out of it.

Draws are no good to us now, we need to start winning to avoid dropping into the bottom three so that's why Bradford is so important.

Psychologically it would be a killer blow if we were to lose and, with only one point out of six since the Marbella trip, we need to get three at Valley Parade.
