DARWEN manager Steve Wilkes hopes the weather is kind tonight so his side can avoid going stale.

The Reds have been on a roll in recent weeks but their progress in the North West Counties Division Two table was halted on Saturday as their home game against Eccleshall was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Leek were also unable to stage a game.

But with Darwen not having a fixture this weekend, Wilkes is hoping his side can get a run-out at Harrison Park.

Matt Anderton is unavailable, meaning Wilkes may have to put one of his players in an unfamiliar central defensive role.

Denny Khan is likely to be sidelined with a hamstring injury but Paul Brown will come back into contention, as will Ian Lang, who has completed his suspension.

Wilkes said: "Hopefully we can keep our run going at Leek, but they are a bit of an up and down side.

"We've just got to take it a game at a time and keep ticking over."
