THE Royal National Lifeboat Institution is putting out an all ports call for local runners in the Flora London Marathon to raise cash for the lifeboat charity.
Fundraising staff at the RNLI believe that many of those taking part in the challenge have yet to decide which charity to support -- some may not have considered using the run to raise funds at all.
Clare Kavanagh, RNLI event organiser, said: "Last year we had just over 100 runners supporting the RNLI. This year we're looking to double that figure.
"There must be a lot of people who have signed up for the challenge, but who haven't even thought about sponsorship. The Flora London Marathon is a unique event and a perfect chance for people to raise funds for good causes. We're asking people to make every mile count and raise money for the RNLI.'
Anyone interested in supporting the RNLI lifeboats in this year's Flora London Marathon or in finding out about other organised runs around the UK, should call Clare on 01202 663205 or by e-mail on ckavanagh@rnli.org.uk
