RESIDENTS in the Wash Lane area are down in the dumps over a mounting flytipping problem.
Three piece suites, dumped computer parts and builders waste are among the rubbish appearing on land behind a fence near the junction with Willow Street.
The site was occupied by council properties and has now been sold to the Irwell Valley Housing Association.
But Mr Kevin Ormesher, of Beech Street, says the land is now being used to dump all manner of domestic rubbish.
He said: "It seems to me that this is now our local community tip.
"You are looking at settees that are rotting away all the time and the next thing we're going to have rats."
Despite a clearance last month, rubbish is already piling up once more and there have been two fires involving the debris in the last two weeks.
