FOR a young computer wizard there's no better place to be right now than at school - thanks to the launch of a new E-Learning centre.

Education chiefs at Blackburn with Darwen Council helped launch the Darwen Vale High School centre complete with 25 computers. The purpose-designed suite is the latest addition to the school which contains a variety of state-of-the-art E-Learning technologies.

Head teacher Lynn Dunning said: "We hope the centre will help to provide dynamic and versatile delivery of the curriculum to maximise the positive learning experience of our pupils and our wider learning community. There are 25 computers housed in modern pods and all have the latest software for revision, study support and academic self help packages. A portable kit now means that equipment can also be used in our associated primary schools to further develop our work together."

The school is currently developing a learning website at www.elearing.8k.com. This will cover all subject areas including revision and study skills specific to our curriculum at Darwen Vale High School. It would eventually give pupils access to the centre from their homes or personal computers.
