PEOPLE who want their post early can collect it themselves.
Postal service changes mean from this week first and second dispatches in the WN7 Leigh postcode area have been amalgamated into a single daily delivery which will start at 7am for completion by lunchtime.
Arrangements for businesses will not change, but customers who want their mail early will be able to collect it themselves from the delivery office at 8.30am. This is a free new service but customers need to apply in advance for security reasons. Application forms are available from the Hope Carr Way office.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Second deliveries account for 20 per cent of Royal Mail's costs but represent just four per cent of the daily mailbag, so it makes sense to combine the two."
