PREDATOR Lutel James believes Accrington Stanley will benefit from their 11-day break.

The Reds' scheduled trip to Telford on Saturday has been postponed because of the Bucks' involvement in the FA Trophy semi-finals.

And star striker James feels a weekend off will help Stanley charge their batteries ahead of the re-arranged game at Telford on Thursday April 1 (kick-off 7.45pm).

"I think a lot of the players have started to get tired now we're getting to the back end of the season," he said.

"It's our first time in this league, it's all new, and we're playing against sides who are full-time and players who are stronger.

"It's not an excuse but it does make a difference and must take its toll.

"Collectively as a team we've looked tired. From the forwards to the back four and midfield.

"Some games I'm one of the tired ones, another game it might be Paul Mullin, another it might be Paul Cook.

"But when we go full-time there will be no excuses for that."

But James added that Stanley's profligacy and missed chances in recent weeks have also worn the side down.

The 31-year-old, who scored his 18th goal of the season in the 2-1 win over Stevenage Borough on Saturday, said: "We've been missing a few chances so it was nice to get on the scoresheet but, more importantly, get the win.

"Every game's important now because we've let ourselves down in the last few games.

"When we've had chances to win we've not taken them, and we've all been responsible for that.

"We need everyone to contribute. We need to all dig in deep.

"Half of the games we've lost have been down to our own mistakes."

And after ending getting Stanley back on level terms against Boro at the Interlink Express Stadium, he hopes there are more goals to come from him in the run-in to the end of the season.

"It's always nice to score but even better to do it when we win," said the former Bury striker, who rose majestically to get his head to Rory Prendergast's cross before poking the ball home.

"They were telling me it was the biggest jump ever!

"John (Coleman) was telling us to go in at the back post.

"I tried to get something on the ball but I ended up bundling it in at the end.

"But I don't care how they go in."
