A TEENAGER suffered a double break of his lower jaw after he was allegedly beaten up by a father and daughter, a jury heard.

Jamie Pollard, 18, was found lying unconscious in the middle of the road by a young mum after the late-night trouble in Slaidburn Drive, Accrington.

When police arrived, Mr Pollard was bleeding from the nose and mouth, Burnley Crown Court heard.

PC Michael Walsh said three females were there and he asked who the teenager was. One of the women, Danyella Hankinson told him: "It's Jamie Pollard. I did it. I kicked him."

Hankinson, 21, and her father John, 51, of Arncliff Avenue, Accrington, both deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent, in September 2002.

The young mum, Innes Lee, told the court she saw a man get out of a car, slam the door and then run and jump over a wall. The man was shouting something and got hold of two lads by the scruff of their necks.

Mrs Lee said the next thing she saw was a young lad lying in the road,in the recovery position. She she went to see if he was alright.

Questioned by Howard Baisden, prosecuting, Mrs Lee said the lad was unconscious and the man and a "large woman", were there. The man was very aggressive while the woman was relatively calm.

Mrs Lee said she asked the man, who had a mobile phone, to ring for an ambulance but he refused. The woman said: "No, leave him. Let him die."

The witness said after five to ten minutes Mr Pollard came round but was very confused. A car then approached and did not look like it was slowing down. Mrs Lee said she stood in front of the injured teenager.

John Woodward, defending Danyella Hankinson, suggested when Mrs Lee arrived at the scene, Hankinson was looking for Mr Pollard's pulse. Mrs Lee replied: "No, that was me."

Mr Woodward went on: "I suggest she had put him in the recovery position and was looking after him."

Mrs Lee answered: "No, she wasn't there." The barrister continued: "You never saw her kick him two or three times to the head."

Mrs Lee: "I didn't see anything."

The court was told Mr Pollard was taken by ambulance to Blackburn Royal Infirmary where he underwent surgery for a double fracture of his lower jaw.

Three metal plates were inserted to hold the broken bones together and a lower wisdom tooth had been removed. The alleged victim had to have his teeth and jaw held together with plastic for about a week and was in hospital for two days.

PC Walsh told the jury he went to give Mr Pollard first aid. He asked him his name, the teenager tried to reply but couldn't speak.

The officer said after Danyella Hankinson told him what she had done, she was cautioned, arrested and taken to Blackburn police station.

PC Walsh said she told him:"Yes, I did it. I kicked him," and was happy to sign his pocket book confirming what she had said.

Danyella Hankinson was put in the police van.

Another officer then returned with her father and told him Hankinson was also under arrest for the same offence.
