YOUNGSTERS at St Edward's Primary School in Darwen will be getting creative next week during a Writing, Art and Music (WAM) week.

The week will be based on an Australian theme.

Reception classes will be printing and painting boomerangs, listening to aboriginal music, writing postcards, looking at Australian animals and making Anzac biscuits.

Year one and two pupils will be badge making, taking part in bush tucker trials, listening to music and face painting.

Pupils in year three and four will make cork fringed hats and take part in an Australia quiz while years five and six will have a visit from a textile artist and create digeridoo and boomerang designs.

There will also be a visit from the Just Poets group, musician Steve Berry and the children will take part in walkabouts round the hall to see what the other years have been doing.

Each child has created a piece of art which will be on display and they will take part in the annual Music Extravaganza.
