ON Saturday the Bury Society had a working party on Parkers bottom lodge in extremely rough conditions, the heavy rain holding off till noon.

Three stillages were re-timbered and a fourth stripped of damaged timbers ready for renovations.

The bankside paths were also dug out and strimmed and the timber bridge on the fieldside levelled and secured with timber pegs.

This Sunday Parkers is the venue for the Damian Wrall Memorial Trophy. Draw 9am, fishing 10am to 3pm.

On Tuesday Clarence Lido was the venue for the weekly open, fished by a depleted field due to holiday commitments.

Top weight fell to Ron Buckley with skimmer bream and roach for 6-6-0.

In second place was Steve Duckworth 4-14-0.

Twenty-three competed in the Pilsworth Fishery Open on the match lake.

Dave Jowett (jnr) of Fishermans Way, had top weight 23-6-0. In second place was M. Davidson (Swinton) 15-8-0 and third, Roy Gough (Fishermans Way) 14-13-0.

On Sunday the exposed Rochdale Canal at Summit Length proved extremely tough.

Top weight fell to Tony Green (Macks Tackle) with three chub taken on worm 6-8-0 peg 446.

In second place was Andy Shirtcliffe (GTI Rochdale) 4-9-0 (bream and chub).

On Sunday in the Congleton Rotary Club Charity Match on the Macclesfield Canal at Congleton, Bill Brierley (Tri-cast Calder) had top weight 7-2-0.

Further afield in Yorkshire, in the Woodland Lakes Wednesday Open, local tackle dealer Alan Gregory (Elton Tackle) had top weight 46-1-0.

In second place was England International Alan Scotthorn (Shimano Mustad's) 42-6-0.

THIS Sunday (March 28) the Damian Wrall Memorial Trophy will be held on Parkers. Draw 9am, fishing from 10am to 3pm.

On Monday a shortened March monthly meeting will be held at Elton Liberal Club from 7pm to 8pm.

This will be followed at 8pm by the club's annual presentation and buffet evening for both seniors and juniors.
