ASYLUM seeker numbers have been reduced to 61,000, so that's all right then. Well not really, these numbers mean a town the size of Burnley needs to be created every year to house them.

Last autumn Mr Blunkett gave an amnesty to 50,000 asylum seekers and entry by work permit has been massively increased from tens to hundreds of thousands. Despite the measures proposed by the government, European human rights legislation etc., means that in practice anyone who gets here can stay if they wish.

Is it any wonder that greenfields are being built over, taxes are so high, motorways are grid locked, there is still unemployment, air traffic control is overloaded and it can take hours, days or years to see a dentist, doctor or casualty nurse?

We need to go back to first principles. What is the government for? Surely it is to do the best for their constituents, i.e. the British people.

This government's main aim seems to be to keep foreigners happy, be it George Bush, the Brussels Eurocrats or waifs and strays from around the world.
