FILM goers were evacuated from the Pilsworth cinema when staff smelt smoke in one of the auditoriums.
Fire crews from Bury and Whitefield raced to Warner Brothers' complex at 8pm on Sunday (March 21) when the automatic fire alarm system was activated. Smoke was seen in the air in Screen 11 which was showing Mona Lisa Smile.
However, despite a two hour long search, fire fighters were unable to locate the source of the smoke.
Dave Barker from Bury Fire Service said: "We literally searched every nook and cranny in the theatre. It would appear that someone had set fire to some paper but we could not find any ashes."
