RADCLIFFE has welcomed its new team vicar. The Rev Gary Windon (42) will be based at St Mary's Church, part of three parishes within the town's Churches Together scheme.
Along with St Mary's, Mr Windon will be team vicar at St Phillip's in Spring Lane and St Thomas' in Heber Street.
Mr Windon took part in a service at St Mary's on Thursday of last week, welcoming him to the area and giving him his licence to conduct services.
The service was conducted by the Bishop of Bolton, the Rt Rev David Gillett.
Before moving to his new home at St Mary's rectory in Rectory Close, Mr Windon and his family lived in Penn, Wolverhampton, where he was a curate.
He said: "The service was a bit scary but a lovely celebration. It was nice to have my family there and they seemed to enjoy it too."
He was watched by his wife, Sue Shepherd, and children, Ruth (8) and Louise (6).
