THINGS are certainly looking up for Bury Grammar School pupil Martin Watson.

For the 13-year-old has reached a new pinnacle in his indoor climbing career.

Martin, who is already a member of the British Climbing team, competed in the recent British Indoor Climbing Championships in Edinburgh.

Previously, he had breezed through rounds in Liverpool and Sunderland. Despite competing in the under 16s years age group, he achieved an impressive third place at the event. And that meant he secured his place as one of the best youth climbers in the country.

Martin's success is well-deserved. He trains every night, travelling to Leeds several times each week in addition to completing a busy school timetable.

He is currently working towards the forthcoming World Championships in Edinburgh as well as international competitions with the British team where he hopes to further his success.
