DANNY Heys' acrimonious departure from Ramsbottom United could pave the way for a move to Colne.

The winger was kicked out of Ramsbottom by manager Vince Overson following their 6-2 defeat at Trafford on Tuesday and is hoping to join the Reds' North West Counties Division Two title charge.

Colne manager Nigel Coates, who is due to meet with Heys, could certainly use all the strength in depth he can get as his team try to squeeze in their 14 remaining league games before the end of the season.

This quest continues at Oldham Town tomorrow, where Colne will be looking to maintain the form they have shown in the aftermath of Saturday's FA Vase exit.

They beat leaders Formby on Monday and Flixton on Wednesday to give them six points from two home games - the only statistic Coates is interested in.

Coates said: "It's about results now, not the performance. We have used the full squad this week and with games coming thick and fast that's how it will be until the end of the season.

"After the disappointment of going out of the Vase the lads have been tremendous this week."
