MARK Patterson is looking to fizz up his flat Chorley side with three new signings before next week's transfer deadline.

The Magpies were humbled 4-0 at Workington on Tuesday, a result which leaves their hopes of a top 13 place to get into next year's UniBond Premier extremely thin.

Patterson said: "It was a major setback, not just the result but the whole performance.

"It was disappointing all round because the lads looked like they had never played together before. It was like watching schoolboys.

"It was far and away the worst I've seen them play and from what I've seen I need to be adding people to the squad before the deadline next week. I'll need to bring three new faces in.

"We need to have strength in depth and competition for places and at the moment the players are not getting that."

With 10 games left to play, Chorley's current tough run of away fixtures continues tomorrow at Leek Town. They then go to Bridlington Town on Tuesday and Guiseley next Saturday.

ROSSENDALE UNITED's last game was also at Workington, but they managed a very different result, winning 1-0.

That was 10 days ago and they were unable to build on that momentum as last Saturday's home game with Gateshead was postponed.

But Dale are back at Dark Lane tomorrow to take on Stocksbridge Park Steels, with manager Jim McCluskie still buzzing form the win at Workington.

He said: "Chorley found out this week what a tough side Workington are so if we perform like we did there nothing holds any fear for us.

"We have 10 games left and will try to win them all. If someone scores six we will try to score seven, it's pointless being cautious at this stage of the season."

Matt Woods and Greg Challender are out through injury tomorrow but Doni Clarke, who has returned from Morecambe, is in contention for a place.
