A 29-YEAR-OLD man began "growling like an animal" when he was asked to leave a Blackburn town centre pub, a court heard.

Magistrates were told that Mark Taylor threw two pint glasses at the duty manager of the Postal Order before sweeping glasses off the bar, showering staff with broken glass.

And, after leaving the pub, he ran back brandishing a glass and the manager was forced to hold the doors shut to prevent him getting back in.

Taylor, of Exeter Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. He was remanded on bail until May 7 for pre-sentence reports after the bench was told he was already subject to a community rehabilitation order.

John Wood, prosecuting, said the incident took place at the Darwen Street pub, where Mr Jennings, the duty manager, was approached by staff who pointed out that Taylor, who was barred, had come into the pub.

He was asked to leave but grabbed two large glasses, which he threw at the manager. The glasses missed but smashed on the floor and Taylor then "swept" the bar with his arm, smashing another five or six glasses.

"By this time the defendant is described as growling like an animal and as he eventually went towards the door he picked up another glass," said Mr Wood. "The manager followed him out and Taylor turned and ran back towards him brandishing the glass."

Kevin Preston, defending, said his client had numerous medical problems.

"He accepts that he lost his temper when he was asked to leave the pub and that he went to throw the contents of a pint of cider over the manager," said Mr Preston. "He doesn't accept smashing glasses."
