BURNLEY Football Club is still in consultation with staff over voluntary redundancies as part of a major restructuring of the club's finances.

Last month it was revealed that the club's town centre shop was to close as part of the cutbacks.

Club bosses have stressed that any job losses are to be voluntary at this stage.

Consultation with employees is to continue over the next fortnight.

The club's financial crisis came to a head in February when it narrowly avoided going into administration.

A five-point plan for survival saw the club raise £700,000 to stave off creditors.

The voluntary redundancies are part of future proposals to ensure that the club does not get into financial difficulties again.
