THE parents of an 18-month-old baby boy who died at his childminder's home have paid tribute to their "wonderful, adorable boy."

Simon Hodgkinson and Emma Massey who live in St Paul's Street, Low Moor, Clitheroe, said their son, Joshua, brought great joy into their lives.

Joshua James Massey-Hodgkinson was found dead by police and paramedics at the home of his 37-year-old childminder, Wendy Barlow, in Eightacre Avenue, Sabden early on Saturday morning.

The woman was arrested and was later released on police bail.

Joshua's parents left Joshua at the house the childminder shares with her husband Paul and three children on Friday evening and planned to collect him the following morning.

But police and paramedics were called to the semi-detached house shortly before 3am.

The results of a post-mortem examination on Saturday were inconclusive and further investigations at the house in Sabden were carried out as a result.

In a statement issued on behalf of Simon Hodgkinson and Emma Massey said they had received support from their neighbours during a time of "great tragedy".

And they said they were confident the reason why Josh died would eventually be established.

The couple said: "As you can appreciate we have still not come to terms with the death of our beloved son.

"Josh was a wonderful, lively and adorable boy who brought great joy into our lives.

"I know many others are sharing our grief and we are grateful for the support we have received from friends, relatives, and neighbours who have all rallied around at this time of great tragedy.

"We are also grateful for the help we have been offered by Lancashire Constabulary.

"We are confident that they will be able to establish just how Josh died and in the meantime we would appreciate it if we were now left alone with our thoughts and memories."
