A BLACKBURN firm was declaring war on litter louts with new "drive-in" waste disposal stations.

White Cross Equipment Ltd, of Park Road, developed the waste units for sale to local authorities. It hoped the disposal stations would become a familiar site in every British town and rubbish strewn grass verges would be a thing of the past.

And members of the Lancashire District Council of Women's Auxiliaries to the Licensed Trade handed a cheque for £1,000 to charities a their annual ball.
