ENVIRONMENTAL improvements across Hyndburn in the last year will be discussed at the forthcoming annual general meeting of the Prospects Foundation charity.

Work such as Rishton's Jubilee gate, Great Harwood's Windsor Road football area, and the launch of the Prosperity Recycling firm are some of the items to be featured in the meeting on Wednesday, May 19.

The Prospects Foundation has local panels made up of residents covering all the townships of Hyndburn, plus offices at Hyndburn Council's Scaitcliffe House building in Accrington.

At the AGM, chairman John Wells will reflect on the past year's work, much of which was by volunteers and estimated at £20,000 in labour.

The charity is launching a new leaflet, postcard and bookmark to raise its profile. Prospects spokeswoman Catherine Ackroyd said: "The intention is to distribute these as widely as possible to attract new members. Publicity material is available in libraries, community and advice centres. Our local panels meet informally each month."

At the AGM, registered members will be able to vote for members of the management committee, and meet Prospects panel members and staff. More details on 01254 380675.
