THERE are still places available on Radcliffe Boro's massive junior six-a-side tournament to be held at Stainton Park next month.

The event, over four days, will involve 160 teams ranging in age from under 7s to under 12s and, for the first time, a girls-only under 10s, 11s and open age competition.

Dates for the event are Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9 and 15 and 16.

The teams participating will be mainly from the North West local junior leagues.

Cost per team is £30, which will include entrance fee, two match balls and a set of 50 training cones.

Tournament organiser Kevin Glendon said: "It is not the first time we have hosted such a tournament at Stainton Park.

"In 2000 and 2001 the club held two very successful tournaments, attracting over 150 teams efrom across the North West.

"Unfortunately in 2002 and 2003 we were unable to run them due to extensive ground development work needed to enable the club to have the ground grading in place for the new Northern Conference League, due to start next season.

"But now it is back and it will be the complete family day out, complete with bouncy castles and fun fairground rides.

"The club will provide hot and cold food and drinks and a tuck shop for the children.

"We are also looking volunteers to act as timekeepers, scorers, stewards, car park attendants and programme sellers.

"Anyone interested should contact the club or if you are interested in competing he will give you an application form, but hurry because places will go quick.

"We are delighted this year to have Bury CVS sponsoring the tournament.

"Bury CVS is an excellent organisation and without its support we could not have provided the package we have for all the junior teams entering the tournament.

"We would like to extend our appreciation to Mike France and all the staff for their support."
