A MAN ended up clinging to the bonnet after a row over the sale of a car ended up with it being driven at him, a court was told.

Martin Eaves managed to hold on for a while, but eventually let go when he felt that the approaching, busier roads would increase the danger.

The driver of the Nissan Sunny was given 15 months prison by a judge who told him: "There is no doubt this was a terrifying experience for your victim".

Farhat Sheik, 47, of Aviemore Close, Blackburn, had pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving. He was also given a four-year driving ban.

Preston Crown Court heard that there had been a dispute over a car and its purchase price, allegedly not being paid.

Martin Eaves stood in front of the car, outside his flat in Swift Close, Blackburn, and asked for the keys, in order to continue a conversation with the defendant.

Jeremy Lasker, prosecuting, said Sheik drove into Mr Eaves, who fell on the bonnet.

Mr Eaves managed to grab the bonnet edge, close to the windscreen. The defendant drove from Swift Close on to Swallow Drive and Whalley Range.

Mr Siraj Ahmed, defending, said Swift Close was a cul-de-sac and Swallow Drive a side street and therefore Sheik would not have been travelling at speed.
