Ultraframe know all about keeping it clean after retaining the Orphanage Cup without conceding a single goal.

The cup holders clocked up 42 goals and six clean sheets in an amazing record that is unlikely to be equalled.

Ultraframe's water tight defence was matched by its attackers with big Jon Penman doing the damage with two goals and two assists.

The former Norwich striker led the line superbly and played his part in the goals scored by Lee Wilkinson and Conrad Turner.

However, United Utilities must be wondering how they never scored and perhaps alter the outcome of the final.

For it may have been a different story had Dave Stringer nodded home instead of over the bar from a few feet out after just five minutes.

It came during a passage of play when United had Ultraframe on the ropes -- but they couldn't make the pressure count.

And their early invention seemed to have paid off when Peter Smith's chipped the advancing Matt Donaldson but Stringer somehow headed over as the ball bounced goalwards.

Ultraframe took their time to get going and in doing so handed the iniative to United.

Dave Sharples didn't needed a second invite and took and early grip on midfield while Smith was a constant thorn in the side of the Ultraframe defence.

Twice Smith worked goalscoring opportunities for himself but his finishing let him down on each occasion, shooting tamely at Donaldson.

Ultraframe did infact get the first chance of the final with United keeper, Mark Slater, sticking out a leg to deny Will Rimmington.

But the first 20 minutes belonged to United with Sandy Green and the tireless Frank Bamber helping Sharples to run the show.

However, when Penman forced Slater to tip over his stinging volley after 25 minutes, the balance of power began to turn.

Slater then had to turn Turner's low shot around the post after fine work from Rimmington.

But the keeper was finally beaten on the half hour when Penman showed great awareness to find Wilkinson who planted his shot across the despairing dive of Slater.

Turner had chances to score before the break but flashed one shot across goal before Slater leapt to keep out his well struck volley.

United needed to start the second half brightly and did so with Stringer firing just wide after good work from Gary Walsh.

But they were caught knapping at the back when Penman flicked on Wilkinson's cross and Turner had time to control and volley the ball home.

And the game was all but wrapped up on the hour when Rimmington, who was lucky not to be flagged offside, raced clear, rounded the keeper and crossed for Penman to fire home.

It was a knockout blow for United whose only hope now was to try and score the first goal against the holders.

And Stringer came close with a low shot well held by Donaldson after good approach play by Sharples and substitiute Jimmy Bell.

Walsh then tested the keeper from range with a sweetly stuck left foot drive.

But the next goal came at the opposite when Penman timed his run to perfection, side-stepped Slater and rolled the ball home.

United Utilities deserved a goal for their hard efforts but, ultimately, there was no breaking through the Ultra champions!
