"ARROGANT" Labour have been in control for 18 years, and it's about time for a change!

That's the clear message from the Conservatives in these elections, who have come forward with a raft of policies to appeal to voters.

Councillor Roy Walker, Tory group leader, said a key pledge was to restore weekly collections of regular household waste.

But he added: "This election is not only a referendum on the bins.

"Conservatives are also committed to reviewing the car parking system and the unpopular NCP contract, saving Bury Market from demolition, providing clean, staffed toilets in the town centres, supporting the police in their fight against youth crime, working in partnership with independent care homes for the elderly rather than engaging in bitter battles, and being careful with your council tax which Labour has increased by 23 per cent in three years.

"With all-out elections, this council can be changed overnight by voting for Conservative representatives to secure a different style: hopefully more open and decent, less arrogant and insulting. Give us a chance to give you a change!"
