THE Liberal Democrat bandwagon rolled into town as party members launched their campaign at Clarence Park in Bury.
Councillor Vic D'Albert, local party leader, said: "People across the borough are disillusioned with the way the council is run. The Liberal Democrats offer a clear alternative for a council that delivers for local people."
Candidates are making five key pledges for the June 10 elections. They will:
concentrate on Getting the Basics Right -- like cleaning and repairing our streets and collecting our bins. We will restore the weekly collection of grey bins for everyone
Keep Council Tax Low -- we will keep council tax rises as low as possible and campaign to abolish this unfair tax
Deliver a Fair Deal for Elderly People -- including removing the remaining charges for home care for elderly people
Make Better Communities -- prioritise making our communities a better living environment for everyone -- lobby for more community police, improve young people's activities, promote leisure and community activities and spaces
Take Decisions Locally -- enable more decisions to be taken locally involving local people, not just by the Town Hall.
