RECENTLY, I visited my daughter in Sunderland by coach, and the return journey of around 300 miles cost me £12.25.
I arrived back at Chorlton coach station and decided to take a taxi home. It was a black cab and was the oldest, dirtiest piece of junk imaginable, with ripped seats. It should never have been allowed on the road.
I had the most uncomfortable journey home, feeling every bump in the road. My back has given me trouble ever since.
However, my real complaint is that from the coach station to my home is about three miles and I was charged £8.40. Surely this cannot be right.
How do taxi drivers get to charge such high fares?
