Student mum Julie Holden came bottom of the class when her home was inspected by television's cleaning professors.

And she needed the magic of Channel 4's How Clean is Your House? dirtbusters Kim and Aggie to transform her home in Mayfield Avenue, Clitheroe.

Every room in the single mother's house was buried under piles of grime and mounds of rotting rubbish. There were clothes under the sofa, piles of rubbish in the hallway and rotting food in the kitchen.

Julie told Channel 4's dustbusting duo that her university course meant she was unable to devote any time to domestic chores. That meant that her home was swamped with a filthy mess that only serious scrubbers like Kim and Aggie could get rid of. "I just close the door on the mess then I don't have to see it," she said, "It spiralled out of control after I enrolled on my course." The house was so untidy Julie's ten-year-old daughter Ashley was too embarrassed to invite her friends round.

Kim was not afraid to tell Julie that her home was one of the worst she had seen. "This fridge smells so bad I think I'm going to faint," she said.

Undeterred by the size of the task facing them, Kim and Aggie soon set about transforming the house. Assisted by an army of cleaners, Julie's house was quickly restored to normality.

A crusty microwave and mouldy fridge, as well as a blocked shower head were soon sparkling like new pins.

Finally the house was brought back up to scratch and what was a source of shame soon became something to be proud of.

Julie even passed Kim and Aggie's inspection two weeks after the cleaning blitz. Julie said: "It has changed me. I am more confident and happy, it was wonderful."
